Avatar on Blu-Ray - As of right now, most customers experiencing problems after the Internet download are calling retailers about the issue. According to the support lines from most Blu-Ray player brands (including Samsung, Sony and Denon), a new firmware update will have to be created and made available online before these individuals can play their AVATAR discs. This has many fans quite upset and possibly even returning their copy instead of waiting for a new download to be released.

Five
Ways to Optimize your PC
-
Disk Cleanup
Tool frees up space on your hard disk and improves your computers
performance. Disk cleanup removes temporary Internet files and
empties the recycle bin. It removes Windows temporary files, error
reports, deletes unused Windows components and other installed
components that are never used.
Temporary Internet files take up the most space because the
browser caches each page you visit for faster access later.
To run Disk Cleanup: Click “Start,” “Programs,”
“Accessories,” “System Tools,” and Disk Cleanup.
-
Disk
Defragmenter. A
fragmented disk slows the overall performance of a computer. When
a file is opened the computer searches the hard disk and has to
piece the file back together because it is defragmented. Disk
Defrag is a Windows Utility that consolidates fragmented folders
and files so that each occupies a single space on the disk.
Reading and writing to the disk speeds up when files are stored
end to end and defragmented.
To run Disk Defragmenter: Click “Start,” “Programs,”
“Accessories,” “System Tools,” and Disk Defragmenter.
-
Error
Checking Utility. Constant use of a hard drive can create bad
sectors. Bad sectors slow down a computers performance. The Error
checking utility scans the hard drive for bad sectors, file system
errors, and corrects misplaced files. Run “Error Check” once
per week if you use your computer every day. This helps prevent
data loss.
To run: Click on
“Computer” or “My Computer.” Right-click the “C”
drive, select “Properties” and click “Tools.” Under
“Error-checking”
click “Check Now.”
-
Registry

is a free optimization
tool that speeds up and improves
the stability of your computer. The software safely cleans,
repairs, and optimizes the registry and automatically backs up
changes for future recovery. Registry Mechanic also protects your
privacy online. Download Registry

We Care Reminder Pop Up -
Creating helper process failed IESupport@we-care.com
More than likely you
will not find "We Care" or "IESupport We-Care" or
"Reminder We-Care" anywhere under "Add/Remove Programs."
This message comes from a corrupted IE Browser. When
initially trying to resolve the problem, Firefox was
downloaded and the message never appeared. It only
appeared when starting Internet Explorer.
Solution: Uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer.
Phishing
and Security
Be alert for bogus email messages referred to as "phishing." United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team defines phishing as "an attempt by an individual or group to solicit personal information from unsuspecting users by employing social engineering techniques. Phishing emails are crafted to appear as if they have been sent from a legitimate organization or known individual. These emails often attempt to entice users to click on a link that will take the user to a fraudulent web site that appears legitimate. The user then may be asked to provide personal information such as account usernames and passwords that can further expose them to future compromises. Additionally, these fraudulent web sites may contain malicious code."
You will never receive an email from legitimate financial institutions, banks, and Paypal asking you to click a link to reset your password, verify your information, or to login. Authentic information and concerns from your online financial institution will be displayed after you login to your account from their secure platform, not from an email message. To report phishing emails via US-Cert forward the message to:
phishing-report@us-cert.gov.
This next warning goes without saying but you would be surprised how much it occurs. Do not give out your email password to anyone for any reason. Even when you call tech support do not disclose your email password and the tech support representative should not be asking for it. The tech support agent does not have access to your password. In most cases all she sees on your account in regards to a password are X's in the place where the password would be. If you have forgotten your password, she has the ability to reset it and her system will automatically generate a simple password, like,
"gameyear" or any other non-complicated password. The tech support rep is trained to immediately advise you to change the computer generated password ASAP. When you reset, make sure it's a strong password that includes numbers, letters, and special characters.
Be extremely careful about providing your social security number online. If you're applying for a job online, make sure you're dealing with a reputable website. Go to
Alexa.com and Compete.com to verify information about the company that you are applying to for employment. If there is no pertinent information on either of these web information companies try the Better Business Bureau. If you find no information on the potential employer do not apply.
Whether you're using Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or another reputable browser, utilize their security features such as checking certificates from trusted web sites. The latest browser versions maintain a list of phishing and malware sites, and will warn you any time you try to access a known bad site.
Malware is acronym that stands for "malicious software." This rogue program includes, but is not limited to, spyware or adware programs, such as tracking cookies, which are used to monitor your surfing habits. Malware also includes more sinister items, such as Trojan horses,
keyloggers, worms, and viruses.
Follow the guidelines stipulated in this article and you will be able to avoid the myriad computer viruses that are waiting to attack your system registry, hard drive, memory, files, folders, and much more.

5 Free Anti-Malware Programs
Ad-Aware
Ad-Aware Free Internet Security features real-time protection, advanced detection technology, automatic updates. Ad-Aware combines anti-spyware technology with traditional anti-virus protection. The program offers complete malware protection that won't slow your computer down.
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.36
Other security companies, such as Norton, use Malwarebytes' software because it's fast at scanning a system for problems. Malwarebytes does a good job of cleaning up what it finds.
Microsoft Security Essentials 1.0
Microsoft realized that Windows is susceptible to viruses. Rather than try to make money off this fact, it's doing the right thing by putting out its own free anti-malware program.
Threatfire 4.5
ThreatFire 4.5 is a heuristics-only anti-malware fighter that works side-by-side with traditional definitions-based virus killers to provide supplemental protection. It's fast and even removes rootkits. A Trojan Rootkit has the ability to prevent anti-virus software from running to scan and remove parasites on your computer (see definition of "heuristics" and "rootkits" below).
Trend Micro Housecall 7.1
Trend uses a cloud-based database of malware definitions to find problems, and requires no actual installation on your system. It doesn't run in the background (so no real-time protection), but that also means it's a good second option to run along with other anti-malware programs.
|
Top 5 Free Anti-Virus Software
Avast! Free Antivirus 5.0
Avast has a new user-friendly interface. The free anti-virus software has a new "heuristic" engine for finding trouble on your PC. Heuristic is the process of detecting previously unknown computer viruses, as well as new variants of viruses already on the web.
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 9.0
This application is better for keeping an already clean system clean rather than rooting out problems, but it excels at that, even when you're running a Windows system in Safe Mode.
Panda Cloud Anti-Virus 1.0
Billed as the "best free anti-virus software available" and Panda Cloud also features anti-malware technology. Panda Cloud was PC Magazine's "Editors' Choice for Best Free Anti-virus" November 2009 and June 2010.
Avira Antivir Personal
Free anti-virus that catches and kills threats once they hit your PC. Outstanding detection of malware. Protects your computer against dangerous viruses, worms, Trojans and costly dialers.
Comodo Antivirus
Comodo Antivirus is an excellent program, easily one of the best free anti-virus options out there. Uses "Defense+ technology" that assumes an unknown file is a potential threat, making this free anti-virus program almost 100% effective. Most other anti-virus programs assume unknown files are safe and only concern themselves with files that have proven to be a problem.

Once the Virus/Trojans have infected your computer, use one of the three Virus removal freeware programs listed below:
-
HouseCall - Trend Micro's scanner for identifying and removing viruses, Trojans, worms, unwanted browser
plugins, and other malware.
-
Windows Live OneCare - safety scanner, free service designed to help ensure the health of your PC, scan and remove viruses. See the resource links at the end of this article. Windows Live OneCare has a version for XP and a version for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
-
Snap Files - called Ad-Aware Free, it's an adware and spyware removal tool that scans your memory, registry, and hard drives for known data-mining, aggressive advertising, and tracking components. It then lists the results and offers to remove or quarantine the components.

IDE controller drivers need
updated. Download the most recent drivers of your chipset. This could
help with the phantom ejecting. It has something to do with your
drivers. Worst case scenario is that your motherboard is shorting
somewhere, causing false signals to your drive to tell it to open up.
Another option is to update the firmware in your drive. This would
require you to go to the website of your manufacturer and download an
update. Some firmware can be flashed on Windows while others have to
do it dos based. I would recommend trying this as well. It's rather
hard to screw up doing, but you can potentially ruin your drive should
you mess up while updating your firmware.
Download the driver installer
to
update your IDE Controller device drivers. By updating your IDE
Controller drivers, your computer will perform better and most driver
conflicts will be solved. We highly recommend the driver installer for
all Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users. With a database of
over 11 million drivers, you can quickly identify every IDE Controller
device made after 1994.
Google
Redirect or Redirect Virus
Many people have had to deal with the Google search redirect. If you are one of those people, there may be a chance that you are experiencing the Google redirect virus, which is also commonly known as the Google virus. In most cases, the redirect actually takes you to a
website that has been categorized as risky and should not be visited. There are various websites to which the user is redirected and all of these are websites that have spyware and malware that invades your system. In such circumstances, a Google Redirect Fix becomes essential.
The Google redirect problem is occurring in most of the browsers and there are various tools that are available for removing the virus for a particular browser. There are also, however, other programs for removing the Google Redirect virus that are not browser specific and can be used for any browser. These are the ones I would recommend you to get to protect your computer.
One of the many anti-malware utilities is Noadware. This program detects the malware in your computer for you. If the Google redirect virus is present in your system, it will get detected by running a scan with Noadware. The detection process is quick. This program also deletes the malware and prevents any further invasions into your system. The program scans and monitors your computer to keep it safe.
In order to for the Google redirect virus to get deleted from your computer forever, you would also have to edit the registry and possibly delete some values. For this, you can go to the Windows folder and open the folder titled System 32. In this folder, there would be a file with a title regedit. By giving this file another name with the extension .exe and copying it to another location, you can prevent the virus from preventing this file to execute.
When you run the regedit file, you should look for the Drivers 32 folder. In this, there will be many files. You have to look for the entries with the name 'aux'. The entries can be with the name aux and can also contain some digits along with aux. These may also be random names that don't make any sense with their name. You should delete the file and then restart the computer.
After the computer reboots, you can always run the anti-malware program again so that you can be sure that the virus is not in your system anymore.

Exploit. JS. Agent. bab

Windows
2000 Stop Messages
This Stop message,
also known as Stop 0x24, indicates that a problem occurred within
Ntfs.sys (the driver file that allows the system to read and write
to NTFS drives).
Interpreting the Message
The four parameters listed in the message are defined in order of
appearance as follows:
- Source file and line number.
- A non-zero value contains the address of the exception record.
- A non-zero value contains the address of the context record.
- A non-zero value contains the address where the original
exception occurred.
All Stop messages due to problems with the file system have
encoded in their first parameter the source file and the line
number within the source file that generated the Stop. The
high 16 bits (the first four hexadecimal digits after the 0x)
identify the source file number, while the lower 16 bits (the
last four hexadecimal digits of the parameter) identify the
source line in the file where the stop occurred.
Resolving the Problem
Disk Corruption. Corruption in the NTFS file system or bad
blocks (sectors) on the hard disk can induce this error.
Corrupted SCSI and EIDE drivers can also adversely affect the
systems ability to read and write to disk, thus causing the
error.
Check Event Viewer for error messages from SCSI and FASTFAT
(System Log) or Autochk (Application Log) that might help
pinpoint the device or driver that is causing the error. Try
disabling any virus scanners, backup programs, or disk
defragmenter tools that continually monitor the system. You
also need to run hardware diagnostics supplied by the system
manufacturer. For details on these procedures, see the owners
manual for your computer. Run Chkdsk /f /r to detect and
resolve any file system structural corruption. You must
restart the system before the disk scan begins on a system
partition. If you cannot start the system due to the error,
use the Recovery Console and run Chkdsk /r.

Protect Alert Virus
This virus attacks your computer and pops up a Spyware Alert that will show "Vulnerabilities Found" .. "Your computer is infected by spyware - 34 (or any number) serious threats have been found ... activate Realtime secure
protection against future intrusions."
You'll also see a "Spyware Protect 2009 alert" in the bottom right corner of your screen indicating "Your computer is being attacked by an Internet Virus. It could be a password-stealing attack, a trojan, dropper or similar."
Don't activate anything, and do not select YES for the question, "Do you want to block this attack?"
This virus is similar to the "XP AntiVirus 2008" worm. It works in the same vicious manner. Follow the steps listed below to eliminate the 2009 version.

Spyware Protect 2009
Spyware Protect 2009 is a spyware application that scares users into purchasing a fake anti-spyware program. This malware displays fake system scan results of your hard drive showing viruses and spyware. These alerts come from Spyware Protect 2009 and urge you to pay for the full version to get rid of the so-called threats. But even if you do pay for this product and install it on your computer, nothing will change. Spyware Protect 2009 cannot remove any parasites and continues generating the alerts even after you "purchase" it. Delete this dangerous spyware from your computer immediately to disable its pop-ups and alerts.

The
Blue Screen of Death
Just
about every Windows user is familiar with the infamous
‘Blue Screen of Death’ or BSOD. The page with the screen
full of confusing white text against a beautiful peacock
blue background that pops up right when you least expect it
and ends up losing all your work to that point because
there’s no way to avoid a system reboot after it. That is
if you are lucky enough to have the issue go away following
that reboot, but sometimes, the problem has deep roots and
won’t go away easily, only getting more and more frequent
until you’re convinced there’s something wrong with your
computer. And while you may be right, the problem may lie
elsewhere and not really a defect with your computer.
The Blue Screen of Death occurs once Windows encounters a
critical problem from which it cannot recover without
halting operations to a stop after posting the diagnosis of
the problem in the form of the Blue Screen error. In more
recent versions of Windows, the remnants of the PC’s
memory till that point are saved to a dump file for analysis
later by an expert.
